30-Year Mortgage Rate Remains at 3.86 Pct.

The average rate on the 30-year fixed mortgage remained steady at a record low for a third straight week, offering more incentive to those looking to purchase a home or refinance.

According to mortgage buyer Freddie Mac, the rate on the 30-year home loan was unchanged at 3.87 percent.

Since long-term mortgages started in the 1950s, that’s the lowest level.

The average on the 15-year fixed mortgage was unchanged at 3.16 percent as well.

That’s an increase from a record low of 3.14 percent reached two weeks ago.
