Redevelopment plans are being made for the downtown Houston, Tx post office.
The 16-acre site was chosen for the 2012 Urban Land Institute Gerald D. Hines Student Urban Design Competition where teams of graduate students pursuing real estate studies propose development schemes for large-scale properties.
Students have two weeks to create site plans, drawings and financial studies.
The designs are scheduled to be more for show than anything real as the project is based on a hypothetical situation.
That’s not to say the property won’t be redeveloped.
For years, officials have talked about selling the site, but the sale has been put on hold amid the commercial real estate crisis and financial struggles at the U.S. Postal Service.
